Creative process part 3

I have finally decided on exactly what is going to happen with my project. After a little bit of tinkering around with different materials and styles I've decided to design my project on a computer using some editing software. I plan to include main parts and very significant items form different video games in this art project along with different smoother wavy like lines that would represent sounds of softer melodies or quicker ones.

***did not finish actual art project this is all I got

Creative process part 2

While thinking of ideas for this assignment, I came up with many that didn't really suit me as much as I would have liked. The final idea I had decided on involved not myself but the things that I do on a day to day basis. I saw as more of who I am than just my outward appearance. It seemed to make sense to use that as my self representation project because that is the best way I can see to represent myself. One thing I really liked about this final idea was that it left me more room for interpretation and I wasn't stuck with just looks or anything specific. It gave me a free range over my other ideas that I had and that is why this one came out on top. My idea was to take two hobbies of mine (music and video games) and sort of have them start on deprecate sides of the paper and blend together as they get to the middle.

Self Representation Project

This will be our grade 10 classes culminating assignment for this term. We've been asked to create something like a self portrait but instead of just showing our outside appearance, it will show who we are. I haven't decided exactly which art style I will use for this assignment but I have a few concepts for things i would like to include. some things that i am interested in would include music and video games. note that when i say music, i mean that i write music and enjoy listening to music all of the time. that is why i'm, probably going to base this assignment on music for the most part. I'll add more to this eventually.

I've finally decided that my final project will be a collage of various things that i like and stuff that represents who I am. I'm going to use stuff based on my hobbies and interests. I will try to keep it somewhat organized.

I'm going to have the four corners of the paper to be different things and i'm going to blend them together as i get closer to the middle.

Instead of using 4 things, I've decided to use only 2 different things. and blend those together as i get closer to the center. The two subjects i will be using are music and video games. i chose these because they are basically what i do all the time.

Woodland Art Tile Project

This will be the design for my woodland style tile project. I used various shapes and lines on the inside of the hummingbird and the flower that followed the contours of the objects. this allowed for a both natural and artistic feel to the drawing. my last attempt at this project had a few slight errors but it was a very good practice run for the glaze and the kiln. This time i decided to use larger shapes and more definitive lines to make glazing a less difficult task allowing me to finish with a far superior tile than from the last time. I will post more pictures as i complete more of the assignment.

Minecraft - Gothic Cathedral

Minecraft - Gothic Cathedral

We put this cathedral together using Minecraft instead of lego because we have very few limits as far as amounts of peices goes. when we started this design off, we were looking in a book that had the begining of a frame for the front face of the cathedral. everything else was made based on what we had heard about gothic cathedrals. the whole thing is our own design and it took us a few days to plan the rest of it after we had finished the front. we made a small market out in front of the cathedral to make it more like an actual cathedral. since most of them had a road leading up from the town square or market that would go directly to the cathedral. also, the interior was mad with benches and lighting to make it seem welcoming to the public. another way to make it seem open (like a real cathedral) was to add very large doorways on the front of it with large pillars (which we did). Another main component of a gothic cathedral  would be a rose window. we placed our rose window on the back of the cathedral just above the centre of the back wall. we also added a pulpit and a raised area for the preacher or priest to stand and speak to the people from. of course a very important componant of our cathedral would be the overall hight that it is. the highest peak is about 115 blocks (115m) up from the ground. that was a very important component to this cathedral that we added. just as it was important to make peaks. the final touch we added was a gothic cross on the middle of the front for the people to look at. over all, i think this assignment went very well and was very successful. we didnt come into any problems while working and everything went up as planned. A+

My main goal for this assignment was to try to use minecraft to make something that would be cool to look at. We really didnt have any specific goals in mind other than to create something that other people might enjoy. Allthough, one goal was to not run into too many challenges along the way of creating this project. It took us about 2 hours in total to complete this project with its fair share of challenges and problems. some problems include when we attempted to make the big smiley face. it didnt match up very well and it took us about 6 tries to get the smiley face to match up properly. After that was sorted out, we moved over to the rainbow rails. This was more tedious than difficult. we had to make sure there would be enough room on the corners for the outside blocks. Over all, I think this project was very successful because we enjouctered very few challenges and it was quite fun to do. Also, everything turned out looking great.

Here's a little minecraft art that was made by another student and myself. check it out ;)

These structures were built with childhood in mind. we decided that we needed to represent a more vibrant and bright side of art that would look appealing and be fun to do. I feel like we were very successful in representing this fun side of art.
